A day with my bff

This was last Saturday and I have been meaning to blog it but I never got to. My bff Sheryll just got back from Iraq and she had a layover in Baltimore, MD. Yay. This means a day of fun-shopping, dining, and photo ops. It’s always good when you get to see your friends from your childhood days. Brings back good memories of how you came to be who you are now.  Have a great Columbus day weekend everyone.

Because I was born in the 80’s…

I am really into the retro look right now. I am into exaggerated or decorated shoulder tops/jackets and rad jeggings or leggings and hats galore.
I found these leopard leggings from forever21 for $7.50 (sweet deal!) and wanted to pair with something neon and stacked heel booties. I know this look is a bit of a funky look but I love it.  I love rocking the 80’s look with a little modern look.

If you want to rock these looks, you can find rad 80's pieces from http://www.shopnastygal.com/. Check em out!

Vintage project: Polka dotted

Altering vintage is definitely my favorite past time. I love turning old frumpy clothing into a more modern outfit. This is probably my favorite vintage alteration. It think it’s because my alteration skills are more efficient and a little less messy. I  still need to take sewing classes but I think I am getting good at this altering stuff. This polka dot jumpsuit had a very wide leg which I altered to make it more modern. The top portion was a bit frumpy since it had no style to it all. It was too conservative for my liking. So I cut the sleeves into one sleeve and sewed the lining back on. I love how it turned out and now I have a polka dot attire just like what can be seen on fashion runways.

On me:
Vintage polka dot jumpsuit, Uniquethriftstore.com
Black suede floppy hat, $36.00 zara stores
Jessica Simpson Dany in white, $120.00 amazon.com

In a rainy and cold day…

This past couple of days, the east coast weather seemed to have skipped fall and went straight to winter. It’s been very cold and rainy. My favorite person, my hubby, asked me if I wanted go to the beautiful and quaint Georgetown, DC and just walk around to shop and dine. It was a sweet day date-with H&M shopping (in which I bought a very awesome camel coat for $49.95-check em out) and had crepes and coffee. I also found a very cool vintage store down there which I was super excited about. He later thanked me for going on a date with him. He is just the sweetest. Sometimes I am just in awe on how lucky I am to find my husband

Since it was cold and windy, I opted for thigh high boots that my gf Sheryl got me for my b-day. I put on a gold striped knit top (Metallics are in so stock up in your gold/silver tone attire) with denim shorts and my vegan leather thigh high boots and we were off to enjoy our date.

On me:
Vintage brixton hat, $7.99 uniquethriftstore.com
Yoki vegan leather thigh high flat boots, $72.00 lulus.com
Gold striped knit top, $22.95 forever21.com
Paris blues shorts, $24.95 macy’s store
Taupe hobo bag, $50.00 Aldos store

Don't follow the rules

I know they say that you should not wear white after labor day but I don't follow rules. You shouldn't either.
I believe fashion is about having fun and expressing yourself and you should wear whatever you want (weather appropriate that is).

I wanted to wear my sexy Sam Edelman Lorissa look a-like. (See blog, http://dessafashionlove.blogspot.com/2011/09/just-like-lorissa.html) So I wore an outfit just to have that modern all white monochromatic look. This outfit's purpose was for a night to paint the town red..well until 12:30 am. lol.

On me:
All white top sheer dress, $54.90 asos.com
Python print envelope clutch, $40.00 zara stores
Qupid Luxe Burlee heels, $73.00 lulus.com
Double studded ring, $5.90 forever21.com
